Woman of the Year 2010

Heretic's Woman of the Year 2010 award goes to Katherine Birbalsingh.

This is her ground-breaking speech at the 2010 Conservative Party conference. The standing ovation was richly deserved. We must repair the damage done to the education system and the family if Britain is not to become a third-world country.

My sincere congratulations and thanks to Ms Birbalsingh.

Great speech; and she's right!

I can't help thinking, though, that a white-male headteacher would not have been able to make the same speech without being pilloried by his work colleagues. Ms. Birbalsingh can only get away with doing so because she's a non Anglo Saxon woman.

Of course she's right, but what I find astonishing, is that the preceding disaster happened at all. Was it the result of stupidity, or was it spiteful mendacity, or some combination thereof?

And I've yet to hear any main political speech that dares to expose the Ritalin abuse. I can only estimate the numbers as being above a million, mostly boys of course, as the statistics are obviously not published, since the instigators value their jobs.
